WHAT IS YERBA MATÉ (PRONOUNCED MAH-TAY)?
Yerba Maté comes from South America (ours comes from Paraguay). It is steeped in hot water, similar to how you would steep tea.
WHY USE YERBA MATÉ?
Yerba Maté has many holistic health benefits. It is packed with anti-oxidants, boosts the immune system, and is naturally caffeinated. Yerba Maté has less caffeine than coffee, and makes a nice coffee alternative.
WHY DOES HERBAL MIST TASTE DIFFERENT THAN TRADITIONAL MATÉ?
Yerba Maté typically has an earthy, herbal taste. While it is enjoyed by many, Americans expect our product to taste like iced tea and may be put off by the strong Maté flavor. We have formulated Herbal Mist by blending Yerba Maté with black or green tea. Our formulation gives you all of the benefits of the Matéwith the smooth taste of iced tea.
DOES HERBAL MIST CONTAIN GMOS (GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS)?
Our ingredients suppliers have given us documentation that our ingredients are GMO free. To be sure, we are independently testing our product at a laboratory. We expect to have our final GMO statement prepared shortly.
ARE HERBAL MIST INGREDIENTS FAIR TRADE CERTIFIED?
We are not Fair Trade certified. We do, however, have our own internal altruism policy for contributing towards charitable acts that we feel strongly about in our local community.
HERBAL MIST HAS A LOT OF CALORIES?
We use pure cane sugar in our teas. Pure cane sugar is the least processed, most natural form of sugar that is available. Cane sugar is readily absorbed and processed by the body, and consumed in moderation as part of an overall healthy lifestyle should not lead to any adverse health effects.
HOW IS HERBAL MIST PRESERVED?
We bottle our products at a temperature at or above 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, our tea is slightly acidic which further discourages microbe growth. Our products have a two year shelf life.
WHY DOESN’T HERBAL MIST COME IN GLASS BOTTLES?
While we like some of the aspects of glass, PET is a more versatile package. Plastic bottles are not as likely to shatter or break, acceptable in all venues where glass is not allowed (i.e. pools, concerts, etc), and are certified by the FDA as being safe containers. We are exploring the use of glass bottles on future product lines. Our bottles are recyclable.
